Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts is a leading cultural institution in Republic of Moldova aimed to prepare real professionals, giving them knowledge of cultural heritage and skills of self-development in a changing reality.

Chisinau has a lot to offer in the way of culture. There are different venues, including National Opera and Ballet theatre, National Philharmonic and Organ Hall, 10 drama theatres. Moreover, different festivals including "Martisor" (classics, folk and pop music festival in March), "Va Invita Maria Biesu" (opera/ballet festival in September), international jazz festivals, "The Days of New Music" festival in June, "One Man Show" and Biennial "E.Ionesco" Theatre festival, Festival of Vine in October and some others take place in Chisinau every year. In addition to studying, you have an opportunity to visit Fine Arts or National History museums, state and private art galleries, to join other cultural activities. All three buildings of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts are located in the historical center of the city, in quiet districts, closely to universities, foreign embassies, museums and government buildings. It takes 5-15 minute to reach for a walk any important cultural place of the city. A big park located behind the buildings of music and theatre faculties give possibility to walk, to run, to enjoy a warm and friendly weather, typical for local climate.
History
The establishment of the Academy dates back to 1940, when the State Conservatoire was first founded. In 1964 it was reorganized into the Arts Institute, which was later given the name of the Music Academy “G. Musicescu” ( 1993). The Faculty of Instrumental Performance, Composition and Musicology as well as the Faculty of Vocal Art, Conducting and Music Pedagogy succeed some establishments of higher music education, which developed their activity in Chisinau starting with 1919 when "Unirea" Conservatoire was set up. The prehistoric stage of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and Art Management started in late 50s.The Fine Arts Faculty was founded in 1984. At present, the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts encompasses all the fields related to Arts graduate and post-graduate education.
